Dying Isn't Easy
It's been a long time, hospice work we have done
Family members together, for so many months.
Different ways of coping, not on the same page
Dying isn't easy, it wasn't meant to be that way.
Denial, resentment, displaced anger of one's pain
Overwhelming emotions, that could drive you insane.
Faced with unresolved issues, never dealt with before
Finding fault with another, for all that you deplore.
Your dreams and wishes, guilt and your shame
Are awakened each day, bound by your brain.
Grasping at straws, making excuses for what is real
Or dreaming a dream, that is so surreal.
Dying isn't easy, it wasn't meant to be that way
Find comfort and solace, it doesn't hurt to pray.
Don't look for the negatives, or be blinded in sight
Hold and touch the dying, it will bring you new life.
