Reflection
She never knew who she was, a stranger from afar
In the mirror, a ghostly image was all she ever saw.
Lost identity, no resemblance of anyone she knew
How does she go on with her life, not knowing why or who.
Her imagination runs wild, dreams of who she could be
A movie star? Someone famous? with riches beyond belief?
She decides to search this fantasy, someone created in her mind
Hoping someday to meet this stranger, hoping someday she will find.
Years have passed, and asked herself, "Where can this lady be?"
"Maybe she doesn't want to be found, maybe I only have me?"
Many years have come and gone, she must be old by now
"Am I left here all alone, is there still a chance somehow?"
An envelope arrived in the mail today, postmarked from years ago
Letters, old photos, birthday cards, to a daughter she longed to hold.
She looked so old and fragile, thinning hair lay upon her head
Her obit was beautifully written, her final letter is what she read.
"To my loving baby daughter, I leave you my worldly possession
God knows I've searched for you, I am now at peace here in Heaven."
"Know that I am with you always, forever etched in your heart
In the mirror you will see me, you are the reflection of that love."
