The Ride
I have heard from many people when they had their find.
How wonderful the feeling, when it came reunion time.
Anxious moments, sleepless nights, emotions run so high
Compared to amusement park, symbolic roller coaster ride.
It's a ride of twists and turns, steep inclines, and downs
Switched so quickly to another, it's called the merry-go-round.
Wished it would stop, you can't get off, spinning out of control
Deep in your subconscious memory, tucked away from long ago.
Unprepared, unresolved issues, the pain is starting again
Rejection, no contact, time and space becomes a requirement.
All your hopes and dreams for the future, may come crashing down
Laughter you knew, smile you once had, the clown now wears a frown.
Patience, waiting, unconditional love, it's price worth waiting for
The one you found isn't quite ready, to deal with issues ignored.
Pain will intensify, something you've never experienced before
Some may never want to meet you, others may even close their door.
Adoptees, birth-families, please be aware, this could happen to you
Blind sided, tunnel vision, in the beginning, is all you ever knew.
Reunions are wonderful, years of looking have now come to rest
Roller coaster ride you thought so great, has now become a test.
