There Has To Be...
There has to be a reason, why I am here
There has to be a reason, why eyes shed tears.
There has to be a reason, I am born to die
There has to be a reason, a mystery of life.
Whatever the reason, be it right or wrong
Help me to keep faith, and not stray alone.
Help me not to falter, as humans usually do
I know You are here, to guide me through.
Help my blinded eyes, to see the ills of my ways
To make me a better person, before it's too late.
Help me not to question, what is written in the Book
Etched in His own words, easily misunderstood.
Guide me to lead, not to follow the lost lambs
Those who are in doubt, in some cosmic, distant land.
Help me keep my heart and soul, honest and in prayer
For those who chose the wayward path, corruption, despair.
Help me in trying times, when I'm feeling blue
Whatever is handed me, to give thanks to You.
With any illness You bestow, or the age I will be
Help me to relinquish, worldly goods I do not need.
Help me hold my tongue, not to gossip, nor be catty
Not to follow in footsteps, those who are often shabby.
Fill my heart with compassion, with love abound
To give to those less fortunate, wealth I have found.
Help me when I'm dying, to only see You before me
To detach from this earth, from my siblings, family.
They cannot help me, nor get me where I need to be
Straightaway to the gates of Heaven, for all eternity.
There has to be a reason, we have no cures to date
Diseases destroying bodies, minds, ravaging them away.
There has to be a reason, why war, suffering exists
Starvation, famine, plagues, constant threats that persist.
There has to be a reason, is this a wake up call
To return to the One, to whom we call God?
However you refer to Him, Allah, Jesus Christ
HE died on the cross for you, for you, HE sacrificed.
