Lost Souls
Lost in the shadows of who we are, Lord guide us to find that light
Need to know where we come from, where we belong in this life.
Lost in a darkness like the forest trees, seasonal leaves must fall,
Nightmares haunt our every dream, not knowing is the hardest of all.
We are the children now grown adults, searching for who we are
Roaming through life with no reason, hearts so painfully scarred.
Some of us dying, most of us crying, hard to imagine our pain,
Give us a reason, why it's so hard getting information or given birth-name.
Birth-mothers, birth-fathers, siblings and others, where are you tonight
Are you looking for us, just giving up, ending your long journeys' plight?
We will never stop searching, whatever it takes, until our dying last breath,
To hold you one time, touch your face, before we are all put to rest.
We are your children and babies by birth, given to others to raise
Whatever your reason, we understand, why we were adopted away.
Families of our own, emptiness inside, feelings we just can't explain,
You can fill our void, mend broken hearts, so we can be whole once again.
We hope you now know, heard our cries, we all have crosses to bear
How incomplete, our life has been, see the look we all share.
We are the lost souls of a darkened forest, spirits longing to be free,
In the forest, branches entwine each other, sadly, I wish it were me.
