Prayer Of Tears
Only fifteen, date-raped by two men
How could she ever be the same again.
Placed in a home she's never been
Unwed mothers in the same predicament.
The time has come, the pain drawing near
A child herself, instilled with so much fear.
God only knows what lies ahead
As she lays outstretched in a hospital bed.
Numb by the spinal shoved in her back
Exhausted from pushing, her mind went black.
Awoke to the sounds of a baby screaming
Was this for real or was she just dreaming?
She called him by name, "Kenneth John" it was
As she held him so gently with a mother's soft touch.
His blue eyes met hers as she kissed him goodbye
Never to see him for the rest of her life.
Under duress, papers she must sign
It was the 60's and such a hideous time.
Unbearable pain she carried within
Found comfort in the evils of heroin.
Free her at last from the guilt and the shame
God gave her the strength to live again.
No wedded bliss, no more children to bare
Three decades later, she still prays with a tear.
